The Victoria Cross is one of the most prestigious gallantry medals in the world.

On this tour we discuss some of these amazing stories of courage.  During the Battle of the Somme fifty-one soldiers from the Commonwealth and Empire armies were awarded the Victoria Cross.

We follow the stories of these men, such as Donald Bell, an ex-professional footballer who dashed in front of an enemy machine-gun team, killing them with his pistol and Mills Bomb. We will also follow Noel Chavasse, a medical officer who risked his life on numerous occasions to save others. He was the only man in the Great War to be awarded the Victoria Cross on two occasions.

Some of the men paid the ultimate price for their actions, and for those we visit their place of commemoration.  The history of these men will come alive through their amazing stories.

This is a full day, part-drive and part-walk tour. Our VCs of the Somme tour starts at £150 for up to 4 people.
